Diabetes mellitus as a group of of metabolic disorder characterized by in appropriate hyperglycemia resulting from effect of insulin secretion insulin action or both. Symptoms include poly-urea, polydepsia, weight loss, blurred vision, fatigue, headache and poor wound healing. Chronic hyperglycemia may lead organ damage like kidney, heart , blood vessel and nerve.
Diabetics may be causes by genetically or due to life style. In south Asia diabetic mellitus patient are increasing in alarming rate due to their life style. Main factors in life style are lazy life like reduction of physical activities and more carbohydrate consumption.
Classification
Actually there are three types
- Type 1 ( Insulin dependent)
- Type 2 (Insulin independent)
- Gestational diabetics
How do you know you have diabetes?
Symptoms of Diabetes mellitus :
Common sign and symptoms –
- • Frequent urination
• Frequent thirst for water
• Weight loss
• Blurred vision
• Fatigue
• Headaches and
• Poor wound healing
Type 1 diabetic
Characterized by absolute insulin deficiency auto immune destruction Beta cell Of the islets of Langerhans. It can also occurred genetically from birth.
Diagnosis
Symptoms include poly-urea, polydipsia, weight loss, fatigue etc.
Test result
- FBG= >7 mmol/l
- ABS=>11 mmol/L
- 1 hours after 75g anhydrous ingestion.
- HbAc1=>6.5%
Type 2 diabetes
Insulin independence, basically cells are resistant to insulin, maximum time it is genetic.
Glycemic management of type 2 diabetes patient
Everyone should alert about their diet and blood glucose. Glycemic control is essential to prevent further damage of major organs. It would be better by controlling bellow HbAc1=6.5%.
Prediabetic
Prediabetic is the condition that may risk to develop the diabetic .
Symptoms of diabetes (may or may not be present):
- Frequent urination that may unusual
• Thirst in any reason frequently
• You may lose your weight
• Sometimes poor visibility
• Tiredness - Headache
- Irregular Blood glucose level
Evolution
- Impaired fasting blood glucose (IFG)= 100 to 125 mg/dl.
- Impaired glucose tolerance (OGT ) O G T T = 100 to 199 mg/dl.
- HbAc1= 5.7% to 6.4%.
- It is very important to be alert from the diabetic. If you take the necessary steps and modify your lifestyle you should free from the risks of diabetics.
After 35 years old anyone can affected diabetics. Anyone can suffering diabetics after birth. Sometimes blood glucose may arise without any reason of diabetics it may your food taking.
