What is menorrhagia ??

 Menorrhagia is a medical term for unusually heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding. Excessive vaginal bleeding period more than 80 ml. It can involve bleeding that lasts more than seven days or the need to change sanitary products more frequently than every two hours.

Factors that caused menorrhagia , including:
  • Hormonal imbalances: Conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders can disrupt normal menstrual bleeding.

Treatment for Menorrhagia:

  1. Medications:
    • Hormonal Treatments: Birth control pills, hormone patches, or hormonal intrauterine devices (IUDs) can help regulate or reduce menstrual flow.
    • Levonorgestrel-Releasing IUD: A specific type of IUD that releases a hormone to reduce bleeding.
    • Tranexamic Acid or Desmopressin: Medications that help reduce bleeding by improving blood clotting.
    • Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): Such as ibuprofen can help reduce menstrual flow and alleviate pain.
  2. Surgical Treatments:
    • D&C (Dilatation and Curettage): A procedure to remove the uterine lining, which can help control bleeding.
    • Endometrial Ablation: A procedure that destroys the uterine lining to reduce or stop bleeding.
    • Myomectomy: Surgical removal of fibroids if they are causing heavy bleeding.
    • Hysterectomy: In severe cases, a surgical procedure to remove the uterus, which is a definitive solution to stop bleeding but also eliminates the possibility of future pregnancies.
  3. Lifestyle and Home Remedies:

 Medicine used for treatment

1.Tranexamic acid
Dose adjustment
  • First 3 days of period  2g three times per day.
  • It should be changed if no effect after three periods.
  • Periods calculate 21 days period cycle.
Side effect

It may increase the Risk of thrombosis disease.

2. Progestogen (norethisterone)

Dose adjustment

Three times daily for 15 days after being  period  for 10 mg  twice per day for 10 days.

3.Danazol are prohibited for this treatment

4.GnRh analogue are Less as treatment not more than 6 month. It is responsible for reduced radicular bone density.

 

Now I am giving some direct prescription that you may use according to your physical condition. Here lots of medicines are used for  menorrhagia but i have suggested most effective and cheap medicine all over the world.

You should started   of prescription no 1 after 4 to 5 days  initiative your menstruation  when your bleeding is not stop aromatically. You should take medicine for 5 to days, if bleeding doesn’t stopped you make take prescription no 2.

Who can’t use prescription no 2:

  • Pregnancy and lactation patients
  • Severe liver cirrhosis patients
  • Severe kidney disease patients

 

If patient has gastritis problem she should added a gastric suppression medicine like PPI (Omeprazole) or H2 receptor blocker (Famotidine) 30 minutes before the meal two times a day.    

What’s effect do you feel after taking prescription no 2:

  • Vomiting is main effects. If you feel vomiting you may take anti vomiting medicine like domperidone.
  • Mood disorder
  • Gastritis
  • Lactation
